Cursor is like a capital I and I cant edit document - why??
Hi, not sure what I must have pressed but a document I'm working on, and
saved onto a flashdrive, now wont seem to let me edit it. I get a "I" type of capital I instead of an arrow and cant do anything. I've tried saving the document and emailing it to myself, but its the same when I open it like that too. Please help - essay due in shortly!! |

First of all, don't ever open or save directly to flash drives (or other
removable media) or by dbl-clicking attachments. Always save/copy the file to your HD & work with that copy. Second: The I-beam pointer is what you _should_ have when your pointer is in the text area of the doc window, so I'm not sure why you consider this a problem. The pointer only appears as an arrow when you move it out of the text area. If you can't click in the doc & edit it there must be something else preventing you from doing so. Possibilities are that the doc is protected (ToolsUnProtect Document), the file is being opened from a source that doesn't allow enough space for required temp files to be created (such as those mentioned above) or the file may be corrupt. If this info doesn't help resolve the problem make sure to mention version of Word & any additional specifics when you reply. -- HTH |:) Bob Jones [MVP] Office:Mac "Strawbs" wrote in message ...
