Can't copy text marked as deleted
I use Word 2002 with change tracking.
I must reinstate text that was deleted in an earlier version of the document. When I copy the deleted text, Word says "The selection is marked as deleted text." When I paste, nothing happens. How can I work around this without having to "undelete" the old text before I can copy it. (Changes to old versions of docs are not permitted in my project rules.) Copying the doc and rejecting all changes sounds like using a sledge hammer to kill a fly. Regards, Alan |

If you don't want to retype the text, you could try the following:
Select the deleted text plus an extra word; then you should be able to copy without getting the error message. Paste the text into NotePad. Copy the text in NotePad and paste it back into the Word document. -- Stefan Blom Microsoft Word MVP "Alan4297" wrote in message ... I use Word 2002 with change tracking. I can see that that would work. However, I am dealing with deleted rows in a
table. I tried adding "$" to the start of the row before copying. Word complained with the same message about copying deleted text. Hm, I don't have that problem with deleted text in table cells here
(using Word 2000). Just a thought: Does it make a difference if you select just the text or an entire cell? -- Stefan Blom Microsoft Word MVP "Alan4297" wrote in message news I can see that that would work.
