How do I shade a character with space on each side?
This is the outcome of what I am looking for: ________/________.
I want an unbroken underline. I want the slash to sit on the line and then I want the entire area shaded. I can get the unbroken underline by using tabs and then selecting the section and hit underline and I can set the shash on the line but then I can only shade the slash. I want both areas on either side of the slash to be shaded. |

How are you applying the shading? I have no problem shading a selection such
as you describe (tab, slash, tab, all underlined), using Format | Borders and Shading. You might try using nonbreaking spaces instead of tabs. In fact, you need only have a nonbreaking space before the first tab and after the second for this to work. -- Suzanne S.
