Default In Go TO, clicking Page should move the cursor to page-number.

I.e., to the entry box for the page number. I shouldnt have to move it there
manually.

For all of your suggestions, which Word version are you basing them on?

These are all for Word 2002. (I thought I'd upgraded to 2003, but apparently
not.) Sorry I didn't mention this. I realize it's important.

In some documents the Page No might not be visible, or may never have
been inserted.
Most users go to a Page to edit it - not to open the Header/Footer and
select the Page Number field.
Your purpose (and, I suspect, your thinking) are obscure!

Here's the context of the problem. I hit Ctrl-G and the Go To box appears.
But, because the last time I used it went to a bookmark, the bookmark line
(4th line) in the left-hand menu is highlighted. I click on the first item in
the left-hand menu (Page). At this point the cursor should appear in the
right-hand menu box, so I can immediately enter the page number. But it
doesn't--I have to click in that box to move it there.

This is a longstanding gripe of mine, too. In most dialogs, the content of a
box is selected when you tab into it, but not in the Go To dialog. This
means that instead of replacing the current page number, you append the new
one to it--most frustrating.

In Office 2004 on the Mac, I don't have to press tab. The cursor
automatically jumps to the page-number insertion box once Page is clicked in
the left-hand pane, as I suggested. Presumably this improvement will be
incorporated in Word 2007 on the PC. So this is now a moot point.
