Default underline spaces

In Wordperfect you can put the underline on and press the space bar and it
will create a line. Can you do this in Word 2000?

Yes. To have it show up, either remember to type a nonbreaking space
(Ctrl+Shift+spacebar) at the end of the line, or go to Tools Options
Compatibility and check the box for "Draw underline on trailing spaces".

Tools--Options--Compatibility tab. I have Word 2000 chosen as the
"recommended options". Then, scroll down the list below that about 1/3 the
way, and choose "Draw Underline on Trailing Spaces".

But I think us Word users really prefer to use tables for underlining areas
into which we'll eventually type or hand-write.

Hope it helps!
