Default index layout problem

I have created an index with letter headers in a 2 column style.
The style for Index heading is modified with fonttype 24pt.
The problem is that some letters from the heading are indenting.
I can't get this problem solved. See example below:

A K
Area Kersosine
Alps Kitchen

B
L
Bear Lawn
Beatle Liverpool
London
C Lord
Charly
Child M
Cord
Church Maid

In the example the letter 'C' and 'L' are indented.
From the total index there are about 5 to 6 letters where this happens.

Also I have a little problem with the Contents table.
The table of Contents is 3 pages long, but it breaks on the half of the
first page.
It is not possible for me to change this.

Somebody who knows this problems ??

Thanks a lot for help!!

Greetz,

JacobK.
