Default when writting first word or after "." it doent caps the 1st let

i don't know why but my word processor does not automatically capitalize the
first letter on words after a dot or at the beginning of a sentence. can you
please help me correct this

In Tools | AutoCorrect Options, is the "Capitalize first letter of
sentences" checked?
