Default run multiple word documents in one instance of the program

I notice in Excel I can minimize certain documents and restore but can't seem
to find this functionality in Word 2003. Is this possible?

At the top of the screen - at the right hand end of the menu bar, just below
the standard Windows minimize, etc, icons are a small set of similar icons -
these are for the document within the word window.

Also... if there is only one set of icons there, go to Tools Options
View and uncheck the option "Windows in Task Bar" to enable multiple child
windows.
