For some reason, all of a sudden when I insert a file name it is coming out
like this? Did I push a wrong button? FILENAME \p S:\wp\FV\Mo-DV\Consultant\nda&assign-consultant (form).doc The FILENAME/p should not be on it.... how do I fix it so this does not happen? thanks. |

Hi Vicki,
If you're getting BOTH 'FILENAME \p' AND 'S:\wp\FV\Mo-DV\Consultant\nda&assign-consultant (form).doc', that suggests you've got both a 'FILENAME \p' test-string and a filed coded as 'FILENAME \p. Try deleting the 'FILENAME \p textstring before the field. If you're getting '{FILENAME \p}' instead of 'S:\wp\FV\Mo-DV\Consultant\nda&assign-consultant (form).doc', try pressing Alt-F9. -- Cheers macropod [MVP - Microsoft Word] "vicki in SantaBarbara" wrote in message ... Macropod, that did not work. For some reason cannot highlight just the
FILENAME \p part of the file path and cannot delete it. Also, in the file path as I demonstrated below there is a "square" symbol before and after the total file path, such as a code of some type. Any other suggestions? I think someone using this computer has accidentally turned this on or something but makes it impossible to save the correct file path. You probably have the option to select an entire field enabled. But you
should be able to click in the field syntax and use backspace to delete the unwanted characters. To do this, however, you have to have the field code displayed, using Alt+F9. I would suggest that it would probably be easier to delete the entire field and create a new one from scratch. -- Suzanne S. Okay, how do I disable the option to select an entire field? Even if we
delete this in this particular document it continues in the next document... seems to be in the program somewhere. "Suzanne S.
