Mirror margins not working on landscape pages
I'm using Word 2003. Most of my document is in portrait layout, with mirror
margins to allow for binding. The margins are set as: top 2cm, bottom 2.5cm, inside 4cm, outside 3cm, gutter 0cm. I have a few sections in landscape layout, and I want the margins to continue as if they were portrait layout (so that in these sections, the margins are left 2.5cm, right 2cm, inside 4cm and outside 3cm). In the page setup dialog box, these are the default settings, which is fine. However, the mirror margin settings don't appear to be applied to the document. Every page in the landscape section looks like a right-hand page - the margin at the top of the landscape page is wider than the margin at the bottom. I want this to be the case only for odd-numbered (right-hand) pages, and the even-numbered pages should have a wider inside (bottom) margin. In the portrait layout sections, the mirror margins work fine. What do I need to change so that mirror margins work properly on the landscape sections of the document? Thanks, Amy |

Mirror margins not working on landscape pages
You have to fake mirror margins in landscape pages as follows. On the Layout
tab of Page Setup, check "Different odd and even" for headers and footers. Be aware that this will affect your entire document, so you'll need to duplicate your header/footer (now the Odd Page Header/Footer) in the Even Page Header/Footer). Then, since you want larger "inside" margins, add extra space (using Spacing Above/Below) to the Odd Page Header and Even Page Footer paragraphs. -- Suzanne S. Thanks Suzanne for your prompt reply and useful advice. I have learnt a huge
amount about Word from reading your posts and online articles. "Suzanne S. Barnhill" wrote: You have to fake mirror margins in landscape pages as follows. Mirror margins not working on landscape pages
I'm glad I could help. I specialize in tricks to fool Word into doing
something it doesn't want to do. g -- Suzanne S. Barnhill Microsoft MVP (Word) Words into Type Fairhope, Alabama USA "Amy" wrote in message ... Thanks Suzanne for your prompt reply and useful advice.
