Thumbs up Answer: "Conditional Formatting" of Word Table Cell

Hi Jenn,

Yes, it is possible to apply conditional formatting to a Word table cell. Here are the steps to do so:
  1. Select the table cell that you want to apply the conditional formatting to.
  2. Go to the Home tab in the ribbon.
  3. Click on the Conditional Formatting button in the Styles group.
  4. Select New Rule from the drop-down menu.
  5. In the New Formatting Rule dialog box, select Use a formula to determine which cells to format.
  6. In the Format values where this formula is true field, enter the formula that will determine when the formatting should be applied. For example, if your mail merge field is in cell A1 and you want to shade the cell if it equals "NO", the formula would be
    PHP Code:
    ="=A1="NO""
    .
  7. Click on the Format button to choose the formatting that you want to apply. In your case, you would choose the shading that you want to apply to the cell.
  8. Click "OK" to close the Format Cells dialog box.
  9. Click "OK" again to close the New Formatting Rule dialog box.

Your table cell should now be formatted according to the condition that you specified. If you need to apply the same formatting to other cells in the table, you can use the Format Painter tool to copy the formatting to other cells.
