How do I restore grey background surrounding an imporant word?
Hi, I use a template call "Resume with Contemporary theme". In it, it has
grey background on certain words. Someone suggested me to use same font through out the resume so I Ctrl-A (select all) and changes it to the right font. Now I lost my grey background. Even if I pull an older copy of my resume, I still don't get the background anymore. How do I restore that setting without re-installing Word? HH |

You can apply shading to specific words using Format | Borders and Shading,
but I suspect that what you actually have/had in the document may be/have been fields of some sort. Field shading can be displayed all the time, when the field is selected, or never depending on the setting on the View tab of Tools | Options. -- Suzanne S. What didn't work? Select the word and go to the Shading tab of Format |
Borders and Shading. Select your shading color and make sure that you have "Text" selected under "Apply to" (it should be by default). -- Suzanne S. I did what you just said and it worked. But I have to put a darker
background. At original shading of 10%, it no longer show and I need change the shading to 20%. However, on my 2nd computer, with the same version of Office XP, I can see and print the 10% shading. Thanks for your help. HH "Suzanne S. Barnhill" wrote: What didn't work? Select the word and go to the Shading tab of Format | Borders and Shading.
