Default Word 2003 Macros are gone after upgrade to '07

I just made one of my users very mad. I upgraded her Office 2003 to Office
2007. When she opened Word for the first time, she said, "Where are my
macros?" I didn't know she was using any macros.

Is there anything I can do? I'm not very familiar with macros (I can spell
it), so I don't know where to look to find them. When I look in C:\Program
Files\Microsoft Office, there's not an Office11 folder anymore.

Please help - I hate making people unhappy.

The macros would probably have been stored in one or more templates. (It's
possible, but discouraged, to store them in documents.) These would not be in
the Program Files subfolders, but (usually) in the folder within the user's
profile that was designated as the User Templates folder for Office. It's
probably still the same folder -- by default, %appdata%\Microsoft\Templates.

Further narrowing it down, unless the user was in the habit of deliberately
storing macros in other templates, they would be in the Normal.dot template.
Most users are unaware of the Startup folder (by default,
%appdata%\Microsoft\Word\Startup), where you could put a template to make it an
automatic add-in.

An upgrade installation doesn't delete or move existing templates from the
previous version, even if it replaces all the program files. So look in the User
Templates and Startup folders for any .dot files and open them, or base new
documents on them, and press Alt+F8 to look at the macro list.

Also, if your user is using the term "macros" to refer to the toolbars and
icons she uses to access macros, those toolbar icons and menu commands should
be on the Add-in tab of the ribbon.

I found switching back and forth from the Add-in tab very annoying. So I
added several of my most used macros (with new icons unfortunately) to the
quick access toolbar of my favorite add-on template. That little tip may put
you into her good graces.
