I want to use a text field on a form in word 2007, but I need to limit the
size to three lines. Can i define the max size of the box in my design mode
so that it doesn't affect the formatting of the rest of the form if they
don't fill in the entire three lines?

The usual way to do this is the use a table with fixed cell dimensions.

Put the field into a table cell. When the cursor is in the cell, go to
the Table Tools Layout tab of the ribbon and click the Properties
button at the left. On the Row tab of the Properties dialog, check the
Specify height box; set the measurement to 42 pt, and set the other
dropdown to "Exactly". Click OK.

You can also turn off the cell borders by pressing Ctrl+Alt+U.

I was looking into the same thing and am trying the same solution but
when the length is reach the text doesn't stop, so if I'm typing and
not looking it will continue but not show the text.

Is there any way to prevent this?
