Default How prevent space being pushed to next line at end of sentence

If the line ends with two spaces after a period, word wrap brings the second
period to the next line so there's a space at the beginning of the line. How
can I prevent this from occurring?

Use only a single space after periods. Double space after periods was a
convention introduced for typewriter monospaced fonts. If you're using a
proportional-spaced font, it reduces readability.

In Word, click on Tools | Options | Compatibility tab | uncheck
the "Wrap trailing spaces to next line" box | OK.

Unfortunately, our department doesn't give us that option and will kick back
any report that has only one space after a period.

There was no check mark in that option. But thank you for your help.

Make sure you don't have any WordPerfect-related options enabled anywhere
(Tools | Options | General or Compatibility). Make sure the spaces are
ordinary spaces and not nonbreaking spaces.

I had posted another reply above, but it hasn't appeared. The Compatibility
option for "Don't add leading (extra space) between lines of text" did the
trick. Thank you for responding!

Don't put up with it. Tell them to pull their heads in and grow up.

Look under ToolsOptionsCompatibility and you will probably find a way to
control whether trailing spaces wrap to the next line. They don't for me.
