Default Number Column Alignment

I copied a web site page to MS Word and the 3rd column of numbers are all
askew.

As an example:

1990 Topps 1
1990 Topps 2
1990 Topps 3
1990 Topps 4
1990 Topps 5

There are 380 rows of text and numbers in the list and I would like to have
the 3rd column of numbers in alignment also. I copy several of these lists
and it seems to be a common problem with the 3rd column of numbers only.

I have played around with this for 2 days and finally decided to ask for help.

Thanks for any help you can give.

Default Number Column Alignment

The first thing to ascertain is whether what you have copied is a table
(which is likely) or plain text. To do this, make sure you have table
gridlines displayed (Table | Show Gridlines). If you don't see any table
gridlines, then it's plain text, and you can better deal with that by
displaying nonprinting characters (see
http://word.mvps.org/FAQs/Formatting/NonPrintChars.htm).

If it's plain text, then you will need to set a decimal tab stop to align
the numbers (see http://word.mvps.org/FAQs/Formatting/SettingTabs.htm); you
may need to insert tab characters and delete any spaces that may have been
used to align them. If it's a table, then you should be able to align the
numbers either with a decimal tab in the column (no tab character needed)
or, if they all have the same number of decimal places, by using Right
alignment.
