Number Column Alignment
I copied a web site page to MS Word and the 3rd column of numbers are all
askew. As an example: 1990 Topps 1 1990 Topps 2 1990 Topps 3 1990 Topps 4 1990 Topps 5 There are 380 rows of text and numbers in the list and I would like to have the 3rd column of numbers in alignment also. I copy several of these lists and it seems to be a common problem with the 3rd column of numbers only. I have played around with this for 2 days and finally decided to ask for help. Thanks for any help you can give. Ken B. |

Number Column Alignment
The first thing to ascertain is whether what you have copied is a table
(which is likely) or plain text. To do this, make sure you have table gridlines displayed (Table | Show Gridlines). If you don't see any table gridlines, then it's plain text, and you can better deal with that by displaying nonprinting characters (see http://word.mvps.org/FAQs/Formatting/NonPrintChars.htm). If it's plain text, then you will need to set a decimal tab stop to align the numbers (see http://word.mvps.org/FAQs/Formatting/SettingTabs.htm); you may need to insert tab characters and delete any spaces that may have been used to align them. If it's a table, then you should be able to align the numbers either with a decimal tab in the column (no tab character needed) or, if they all have the same number of decimal places, by using Right alignment. -- Suzanne S.
