What do you expect to happen when you click New? Are you clicking the New
button on the Standard toolbar or the New... item on the File menu? The
latter will (unless you modify it) open the New Document task pane. The
former should open a new Blank Document based on Normal.dot.

If you're using the toolbar button and want a new blank document instead of
the task pane, use Tools | Customize to replace the button (which has
somehow become FileNew) with the default FileNewDefault button (look in the
All Commands section for these commands).

If you're using the toolbar button OR the menu item and want it to open the
File New dialog, you need to select the FileNewDialog command in Tools |
Customize and put that on the toolbar or menu. For more, see
http://sbarnhill.mvps.org/WordFAQs/C...ngWord2002.htm

Also, for future reference, posting in all caps is considered SHOUTING.
