Default Mail Merge formatting problems

I'm using Excel and Word 2002 and have used mail merge quite a bit. Having a
problem today - whenever I merge my document the merged information shows up
in a different font and is bolded and larger than the rest of the text. I've
tried highlighting and changing font and nothing happens.

Any ideas?

Default Mail Merge formatting problems

Use Alt+F9 to toggle on the field codes and add a \* charformat switch
inside the } and the apply the desired formatting to the M of MERGEFIELD.
Then, toggle off the display of the field codes and execute the merge.

Hope this helps.

Default Mail Merge formatting problems

Hi Doug,

I must be doing this wrong because I got an error message which says "Error!
Switch argument not specified."

Here is what my field code looks like: { MERGEFIELD "Amount" \* }. If I
understand your directions correctly, I also highlighted the M in Mergefield
and clicked on Format, Font and selected Bookman Old Style, Normal, Size 11.

Sorry for the confusion. This is a new problem for me and I'm not used to
working with the field codes.

Thanks.

Default Mail Merge formatting problems

It should read { MERGEFIELD "Amount" \* Charformat}

and not { MERGEFIELD "Amount" \* }
