Default Templates & add-ins

I have a template sitting in the Word/Startup folder. It is showing in
Global Templates & Add-ins but every time I close Word down and re-open, the
tick along side the template has disappeared. The template performs certain
functions and each time I open Word I have to go back in to Templates &
Add-ins and manually select the template.

Does anybody know how I can get this add-in to stay?

You need to put the template in Word's Startup folder.

Is this folder actually designated as the Word Startup folder under
Tools Options File Locations?

Do you have your macro security set to trust installed templates and
Add-Ins?
