Default turning off track changes in W97 after changes made in newer versions of Word?

I have a document that I believe may have been edited in a later version of
Word. I use W97 at home, and identified that there are over 100 tracked
changes in the document when I got it, and when I use the track changes
option to show changes in W97, I can see them in the document. However, when
I try to find and accept the changes (find next change) it goes to the
appropriate location, but "accept this change" is not enabled.

I've also tried "accept all changes" in the document, but it doesn't
actually accept them. My tracked changes count remains the same after
accepting all changes.

Is there a workaround so that I can accept all tracked changes within W97,
or am I stuck with those changes (and my subsequent changes, which are now
almost 1000, since I can't disable track changes while old changes are still
being tracked).

Thanks,
Keith

Hi Kr,

How about if you *select* the entire paragraph and click the "accept change"
button a couple of times, does that have any effect? (It works to
accept/reject changes made in Word 97/2000 in Word 2002/2003, so it might work
in the other direction...)

If not, try clicking in a change, then run this macro and see if it accepts
the single change (revision):

Sub AcceptRevisionX()
Selection.Range.Revisions(1).Accept
End Sub
