Default Changed functionality for F4

Word 2003 under WinXP

I've gotten quite used to using F4 to repeat the last action, especially
editing actions.

I've recently upgraded to WinXP from Win2000. Now when I try to use F4, I
get a new document instead of the old functionality? Does anyone know why,
and how to fix?

Thx. TomS

Upgrading your version of Windows shouldn't affect Word keyboard assignments.
This sounds more like you may have a template Add-in with this assigment...
If you hold down Ctrl in order to start Word in Safe Mode does F4 behave
differently?

Default Changed functionality for F4

I started Word in safe mode, but F4 still gives me a new document.

The only add-ins I have are for Palm software (which I've had before, never
a problem) and for a Brother P-Touch printer (ditto--no previous problem).

Is there a way I can just change the key assignment, or is something else
likely to be interfering?

And thanks for your quick response. Tom

Default Changed functionality for F4--never mind

I just found the problem--a new microsoft keyboard was intercepting normal
commands and replacing them with commands it thought I would prefer. I've
fixed it.

Thanks again for your speedy reply; sorry for the bother.
