Default How to set the number of spaces after the period at the end of asentence?

May have been covered, but how do you set the spaces to automatically
be two spaces after the period at the end of a sentence?

You can't. The best you can do is set the Grammar options to alert you to
instances of only one space.

This doesn't ensure two spaces automatically, but it does provide a process
for adding spaces as necessary:

Well, I don't have Word 97 available to check, and I'm not sure whether the
feature existed in that version, but in Word 2003, it's at Tools | Options |
Spelling & Grammar: Grammar: Settings: Spaces required between sentences. If
you select 2, then instances of a single space will be marked with a green
wavy underline (assuming you have "Check grammar as you type" enabled) or
will be marked as grammar errors when you run the grammar check manually.

But two spaces between sentences died with typewriters. Typewriters used
fixed-width spaces between letters regardless of their width: to make text
more readable, it needed double spaces so that the eye could clearly define
the ends of sentences.

Computers are clever and adjust the width used by characters and kern
characters so the stop and space between sentences obvious. In fact, double
spaces are kerned anyway. The result is not the same as double spaces using
a typewriter.

Thank you!

Plus, how to create the macro permanently, *and* add a shortcut, or
toolbar button!

Uh,...it doesn't turn 2 spaces into 3 does it?

Even with variable spacing, I don't spot the end of the line so well.
Plus, being taught touch typing, old habits die hard.
