Default docx question

Hello. I hope someone can help me here. I have Microsoft Word 2007, and I
thought that I would be able to open docx files. When I go to open them it
goes to my winrar, if I extract it to my documents it shows me like three
folders _rels, docProps, Word. They are XML documents, which I just don't
understand. Why can't I open these in Word 2007?

Thank you,
Molly

Default docx question

DOCX files are in a compressed format, which WinRar can open. It sounds as
though you have WinRar set to be the default program for opening DOCX files
rather than Word 2007. Repairing Word 2007 should refix the registry
entries - if not re-assign DOCX to Word via Windows Explorer. (Right Click -
Open With Word 2007 Check always use this application.)
