Default document recovery problem

I accedentally clicked on an older document and now I can't find the original
to restore. I have done every kind of search recommended but nothing. Is
there any way to find my previous version that I stupidly erased evedentally.
What a dumb idea MS had in incorporating this and not giving an easy way to
reverse when you make a mistake like revise to previous version!!!

This is normal file system behaviour. If you save a document over an
existing document then the existing document is gone. That's why you should
keep backups to enable you to recover from such errors.
