Default topstudio encryption how to uncrypt in xp from 98, unable to get .

Can any one help please.

I saved all my files (by luck) on my old computer before a power serge lost
everything, it was windows 98 on an old packard bell with word 2000, I now
have a new dell computer with windows xp using word 2003 - I have put my
dvdrw in with all my files on it - which has worked wonderfully but my cv was
encripted with topstudio encryption, I have tried using the word encryption
to unlock it but it wont work, I know my password that is not the problem,
its now finding the program to get in, I have tried the internet and
downloaded some programes non of which worked.

Is there any one who knows what am talking about to be able to help me, or
put me in touch which sone one what dose.

Many Thanks
Annie

Hi, Annie. One thing you might consider, (I'm assuming that on your old
computer you saved your CV onto its hard drive) is to take your old computer
to a computer store/person that/who knows how to retrieve data from a
"toasted" computer, to see if they can read your old hard drive files and to
see if they can "unlock" your CV file with your password. If you saved your
CV onto a DVD or CD-R or CD-RW, then I'd take that to them too to see if
they can read and unlock your CV.

Good Luck

Hi Annie,

Topstudio's Easycrypto used the 'blowfish' encryption
system. If you know the password of the encrypted file
(be sure you use upper/lower case correctly)
you should be able to open it without having a separate
blowfish decryption software utility installed, but the
MS Word encryption engine uses a different method.
If you've copied the file to your hard drive then
been able to decrypt it with the password try
using File=Open in Word and the 'Recover Text...'
file type to see if you get anything readable.

The TopStudio website has closed down. I don't recall
if they were bought out or just quit, but you may want
to search for downloads for Blowfish decryption software.

Hello Everyone, Sorry no replys, I have been away. You have all been so
helpful and I have tried everything that has been suggested, so I have to
admit to defeat on this one. CyberCitizen - Thank you for your suggestion
but the thought of sending such personal info to someone I dont know did
worry me, so the only way out will be to dig out all my old p45's and p60's,
as it is the dates, names etc and start all over again. BUT THIS TIME PRINT
OFF A COPY FOR ME TO FILE.

Do you want acure for your files. What you done is what you must undo. You
smashed you comp with win98. Now borrow the loan of a comp with wins98 and
problem solved. So eay. I had the same problem. I was going nut because I
knew the program I used for decrypting was good. So you try that my friend.
I certainly would not give my comp to any shark. We all know who the spies
are.
Hope this will help if the thread is not too late. I try to help people.
