Default filename - field code, ? How to work ?

ENVIROMNT: WinXP, Word 2003 ;
.. GOAL: to have flnme print;
.. APPRCH: entered { FILENAME \p } in docu;
.. PROB: printed exactly that.

What's my mistake?

Did you insert the braces using Ctrl+F9? They cannot be entered from the
keyboard. If you inserted the field correctly, make sure that "field codes"
is not checked on the Print tab of Tools | Options.

Don't type the braces {}. These need to be inserted using Ctrl-F9. There is
an AutoText entry that inserts this field. Other method - Insert Field.
Take a look at http://gregmaxey.mvps.org/File_Name_And_Path.htm.

And if you did enter it correctly - uncheck tools options print field
codes.
