Default How do I set Word to have only one space after periods and other .

Is there a way to have Word automatically insert only one space after a
period and other sentence terminating punctuation? Especially when the writer
puts in 2 spaces, automatically change to one space.

Easiest to use Find & Replace. Type 2 spaces in the Find field, 1 space in
the Replace field and go from there.
