Default Insert Date in Specific Format in Mail Merge

I have a mail merge document. In the main document I want to insert the date
as the following:

24 day of August, 2005

When I insert the code to do this save it and merge, the date shows the
correct way, but it shows in gray. I need to be able to do a replace, but
when I search, it says it cannot find this. Is there anyway to insert the
date in this format so that it goes into the merged document as text?

P.S. I don't need to be able to update the date.

Thanks.

If you don't need to update it, why not just type it in. However, as you
already have it in there as a field, select the field and use Ctrl+Shift+F9
to convert it to text.

Hope this helps.

Sorry, I should have been more specific. When I fill in that date, it's not
always today's date. Sometimes I might do it for the next day, but I do 50
at a time. So if I create another field, it just seems like more work. I
figured it would be easiest if I automatically insert the current date and
then do a replace if I need to.

Ctrl + Shift + F9 is exactly what I was looking for.

Thank you.
