Default todays date showing up on a new or saved page

I'm NOT technical, and I've read the previous posts regarding normal.dot, so
hopefully someone can tell me the answer simply.

1. If I just open a blank page I would like todays date to appear on the
upper right side.

2. And this may not be possible, can i save a page on which i have all of my
personal info and picture as a template, and then when i open that template,
have the current date appear? thank you !

The answer to your first question is "yes you can, but you really
should not." The reason is that normal.dot, which is the template used
to make "just a blank page" documents, is also used for other purposes
such as labels. If you never use those other kinds of document, then
you can put a CREATEDATE field in the normal.dot template and it will
put the current date in every new blank document. (Use a CREATEDATE
field instead of a DATE field -- see
http://www.word.mvps.org/FAQs/TblsFl...DateFields.htm for details
of why.)

Generally, the article
http://www.word.mvps.org/FAQs/Custom...alTemplate.htm
discusses changes in normal.dot.

For your second question, the answer is definitely yes. Make a new
template -- either through the File New dialog or by setting the
file type to Word Template in the File Save As dialog -- put your
information in it, and put a CREATEDATE field where you want today's
date to appear.
