Set Word to automate one, rather than two, spaces after period.
I need to re-train myself to use one space after the period between sentences
rather than 2. I'm pretty sure I can set that as a style or macro in Word, but can't figure out how. I've tried a lot of menus! |

In Word 2000, go to FORMATAUTO FORMATOPTIONS. Set to replace two spaces
with one. Or when you're finished with a doc, do a search and replace. OR...learn to hit the space bar only once. -- Jim Hull Technical Writer "hollya11" wrote: I need to re-train myself to use one space after the period between sentences rather than 2. Jim, I can't find a simple open options choice in autoformat in Word 2003,
nor can I enter it in the replace x with y blanks. Do you have 2003? It sounds like you have the answer, but the setup is different. I know the other two would work, but would still like to just automate. I'll use auto-correct for each document for now. Thanks much! I also checked that your post was not helpful, which was an error. Didn't see reply above and hoped that would take me to a chance to reach you back. Sorry! If you are already using the grammar checker (but only if you're already
using it anyway), you can set it to flag instances of double spaces after punctuation. Otherwise, just use F&R when you're through typing. -- Suzanne S. Thanks! No one had suggested the grammar checker - I'll do that. F & R is
also an easy way, as long as I remember to do it every time! "Suzanne S.
