I guess you need something like Graham Mayor's page at

http://www.gmayor.com/graphics_on_labels.htm

but the unnecessary minimalism of your message makes it pretty difficult to
tell. What's wrong with spelling out what you want?

Peter,
I basically want to have name tags that have a corresponding picture of the
person on the name tag. I have the pictures as jpeg files. I am using an
excel worksheet as my data source. I want to be able to use mail merge to
match the name to the picture via using a word field to link the name to the
relevent picture using a link in the excel data source file to link to the
relevent jpeg file or what ever way works.
I am using word 2007, used to have word 2003 and failed to get that to do it
for me

Donal,

As far as I know there are no new features in Word 2007 that would make this
kind of merge any easier.

The main way to do this kind of thing in Word 2003 was to insert a nested
INCLUDEPICTURE field on each label, e.g.

{ INCLUDEPICTURE "c::\\mypictures\\{ MERGEFIELD picturename }.jpg" }

Then you had to merge to a new document, use ctrl-A to select the document
and F9 to update all the images.

The trouble is that you get very little control over the layout, especially
if your images are different sizes. I suspect Graham's web site has the best
info. you will find about how to do image layout within a label merge.

How many of these do you need to produce, and how often do you need to do
it?
