Default WORD, created document use an existing custom template?

I have a 63 page document that needs to be formatted the same as another
document. I have made a custom template from the latter document. How can I
get the 63 page one into that custom template, without re-typing?

If you've saved the custom template as a .dot file, then you're ok.

In your 63-page document - go to Tools Templates & Add-Ins and click on
Attach and select your custom template. If you'd like for the formatting to
change automatically in the new doc, click on "Automatically Update document
Styles". You can also click on Add in the lower part of the same window and
that template will be added to the document.

Create a new document based on the template, then use Insert | File to
insert the other document, or select all but the final paragraph mark of the
other document and copy/paste. Note that if it is only the document styles
you're after, then attaching the template with "Automatically update
document styles" may do what you want, but see
