in text file convert to Word table.

I'm using Word2000 on a Win2k machine. When I insert Table and /Table
tags in a text file (with any extension), any data between those tags
automatically converts to a table when I open the file. If I make a change
and save the file, Word saves it as HTML. How can I turn this feature off so
that the Table and /Table tags themselves and the text will appear as is.
No macros are running and I'm using the Normal template and Style.

Thanks.

Found the answer:

Because of the Table and /Table tags in the text file, Word thought
it was an HTML document and opened it as such.

I clicked on "Confirm conversion at open" in Tools--Options--General which
gives the chance to change the option from HTML to Text Only when opening.
