Default Having difficulty with International symbols. Any simplified hel.

I have been doing online lessons for office 2003. I was doing fine until I
got to the tutorial on International symbols. I think this material is
difficult and I'm having trouble doing it. Is there a less complicated way
of doing this? And do I really need to learn this to be proficient in MS
Word? Any help would be greatly appreciated. Thanks, karaokepete
