Default fill in forms

I am creating a fill in form with drop down menus. When in the drop down
field, I would like to be able to type just the first letter of the item from
the drop down and have it automatically fill in. Can someone help me?

that's not how a Word dropdown works (not exactly, anyway). It's really
meant to pick the entry with the mouse.
