Default Issue with Un-formatting Bullets

I tried to post this issue earlier but I don't think it went though...my
apologies if it is posted twice.

I have created a bulleted list (in outline form). When I created the list,
I highlighted some of the text, which also highlighted the bullets of the
text I selected. Now I have decided that I only want part of the text
highlighted, and NOT the bullets themselves. But when I reformatted the
text, the bullets stayed highlighted.

I tried using the "Customize" menu from the Bullets and Numbering menu, but
the highlight feature is not one of the options you can change from this
menu. I also tried selecting "None" from the highlighting options on the
toolbar and then clicking on the bullet itself to apply the characteristic,
but I can's click on the bullet, only the text.

Any suggestions would be greatly appreciated...Thanks!!

I replied to your previous post, but here is the answer again:

1. Press Ctrl+* or click the Show/Hide ¶ to display nonprinting characters
(if they are not already displayed).

2. Select the paragraph mark (¶) at the end of the bulleted paragraph and
set the Highlight to None.
