Word 2007: question on pdf documents
Hi everybody,
2 things: 1/ Is it possible to combine multiple pdf documents (not necessarily created with Word 2007) into one single pdf document, using Word 2007 ? Let's say I have 3 pdf documents, "book1", "book2" and "book3", I'd like to concatenate (is that an English verb?) them into one "completeBook" pdf file. 2/ Occasionally I have to create pdf documents and edit them (delete, reorder pages, insert pages from other pdf documents, etc.). Can one do this with Word 2007? Until now I was using an old version of Acrobat on onother computer. Is there an alternative to this very costly Acrobat package, (a free or shareware, easy to use, foolproof...)? many thanks in advance for your kind help and advice. with Brgds Daniel |

Word 2007: question on pdf documents
The answer to both is no. PDF is intended as a finished graphical
representation of the document. It is not intended to be edited. You should save the original Word documents, edit those and recreate the PDFs - which Word 2007 will do, given the addition of the PDF creation plug-in. I know of no free PDF creation tools that offer any more functionality than Word 2007's plug-in. Whether thare are cheaper applications than Acrobat (you'll need Version 8+ for full compatibility with 2007) that allow at least some of Acrobat's functions e.g. to combine PDFs, I do not know - have a dig around at Google. -- Graham Mayor - Word MVP My web site www.gmayor.com Word MVP web site http://word.mvps.org Daniel wrote: Hi everybody, 2 things: 1/ Is it possible to combine multiple pdf documents (not necessarily created with Word 2007) into one single pdf document, using Word 2007 ? Word 2007: question on pdf documents
Concatenate is a good English word meaning to link or string things
together. Word 2007 is capable of saving documents as PDF: but this is one way only. In order to make changes to the PDF concatenated document, you would need the original concatenated Word document for editing so as to save as a new concatenated PDF. Obviously, if you have Acrobat Professional, it will let you convert PDF back to Word - but then Acrobat will reorder the pages natively anyway. -- Terry Farrell - MSWord MVP "Daniel" wrote in message ... Word 2007: question on pdf documents
If Daniel just wants to compile the documents into a single file (without
"editing"), can this not be done in Word 2007? It certainly can be done in Acrobat. -- Suzanne S.
