Default Word file won't open - stumped

Several of my clients have complained that word files that we email or
leapfile won't open for them. I haven't actually experienced this problem
personally, but the volume of clients reporting this problem seems to be
increasing. They complain that when they try to open the document that they
get a endless spinning hourglass. Has anyone experienced this or know a
reason why this is happening. Better yet does anyone know how to resolve
this problem?

A major suspect is the report template attached to the document, though
tests emailing files to my personal computer haven't resulted in the template
being a problem.

Are you sending the files in *.docx (Word 2007) format?

If you are creating them from 2007 the problem could be
http://www.gmayor.com/Problems_opening_2007_docs.htm , but more likely they
are being corrupted by the e-mail system. Some e-mail handlers frequently
give rise to such complaints. Can they be opened if you zip them first?
