Default How do I remove read only when renaming doesn't work

I am trying to save a file that I created to a new sandisk cruser usb flash
drive. I keep getting a message that the file is read only. I have tried
renaming but still get the message. It is not read only. I don't even know
how to do that.

Don't save directly from Word to any removable media, including a flash
drive. And don't open a document directly from removable media. Always copy
the file to the hard drive, work on it there, and copy it back to the flash
drive.

When the file is on the hard drive, if it still says it's read-only,
right-click the file in Windows Explorer, select Properties, and uncheck the
"Read only" box in that dialog.

This does not work for me. I have not found a way to backup my files
and avoid them being stored as Read Only.

If you store them on a CD, they will always be stored as read-only; that's
the nature of the medium. When you copy them back to the HD, you then have
to remove the read-only property.
