Default Word to feature descending paragraph numbering

I want to be able to update a document with my system's new features.
These features I want them on top to make it easier for the reader to find
them. However, I would also like to retain the numbering of the old ones.
So, descending paragraph numbering is the solution.

Your suggestion is not actually a solution since the numbers do not
automatically get updated.
You need to run the script every time and many things can go wrong and mess
up the whole document.
We need a way that is as easy as the normal (ascending) autonumbering.

Thanks

You are going to be disappointed, as Word does not have in-built provision
for reverse numbering as indicated on the linked page.
If you use the first method from the linked page, the two elements
{ SET HighNr 11 }
{ = HighNr - { SEQ RevNrList } }
can each be saved as autotext entries which are then easy to apply.
All you have to do is insert the number in the SET field to represent the
number from which you wish to descend.
It is true that SEQ fields (most fields in fact) do not update automatically
whether ascending or descending, but that's a minor obstacle. Simply add an
update macro to a toolbar (there's a sample macro that will work at
http://www.gmayor.com/installing_macro.htm ) and click that whenever you
change the order of the numbered paragraphs.
I'm afraid that's as simple as it is going to get.
