Default auto update of links

Hi Al,

The automatic update of links radio button is greyed out even though it is
not locked by my observation.
I'm trying to update from a *txt file.

WHERE do you see this button, and in which version of Word?

In a general sort of way, text files linked using an IncludeText field
(Insert/File with link) should update automatically, all the time. There have
been some new security measures since Word 2002 SP-1, however, that can
result in deactivating link updates. See this article
