I need to include a table in a word document that starts with 3 columns for
the first 2 rows, and then changes to just 2 columns for the rest. Thanks!

Here are three ways:

- Make two separate tables, one with three columns and one with two columns.
Delete the paragraph mark that separates them, and they'll join to make one
table.

- Make a three-column table. Select two cells in the first row, right-click,
and choose Merge Cells. Repeat in the second row.

- Make a two-column table. Select a cell in the first row, right-click, and
choose Split Cells; in the dialog, set 2 columns and 1 row in the boxes and
click OK. Repeat in the second row.

The second method will do the opposite of the desired, but the general idea
is good (just needs to be in the rows after the first two). In fact, the
best bet there would be to make a three-column, three-row table. Merge two
cells in the last row (to result in two columns) and any rows subsequently
added will have two columns.
