Is there some way I save Backup copies of my docs in a different file
location that the original?

No, at least not if you're talking about the "Backup of filename.wbk"
files.

I think the script routine is a little risky for someone with my talents (or
lack thereof)
I'll just continue in my old-fashioned ways.
