Default How do I change the format of how a WORD doc. opens/diplays?

When I open old WORD docs. (from Student/Teacher version) in my new MS Office
(prof. vers) they don't format the same as they were saved. Biggest issue
here is that instead of showing hyperlinks in blue, they show up as
{HYPERLINK: www.soandsowebsite.com} and you can't click on it and move to the
site.
