Default Error Message when installing font

When I go through the control panel to install my new fonts so Word will
recognize them, I get the following message:

....ttf file is currently being sued and cannot be replaced. Wait until
Windows is finished using the file and then try again.

All the fonts I am trying to install are new and not currently in the fonts
folder on my c: drive. What am I missing or doing wrong. This is extremely
frustrating since half my documents need these fonts.

Can someone help? Thanks.

Try installing one at a time, to check which specific font file is the
issue.
