Default How do I get rid of a black line 4 characters long

I deleted a blank page and a short black line is now on top of word 2003
every time I open it, right under the cursor and I can't click on it to
delete it.

The line represents the end of the document. It appears in Normal view and
Outline view, and it's supposed to be there. If you switch to Print Layout
view or Web Layout view, you won't see it.

Probably the problem is just that your startup view got changed from Print
Layout to Normal. Read
http://www.word.mvps.org/FAQs/Genera...iewAndZoom.htm for instructions
to change it.
