Default How do I get Word 2003 to open in a full window?

Most of the time when I open Word 2003, it fills my screen, which is what I
want. Lately, it has been opening in such a manner that there is about three
inches of screen space above the Word window. This is a nuisance, as when I
type a document, I must scroll down to see what I'm typing.

Is there a setting I can choose to remedy this? TIA.

(I have all the updates, including those for Office 2003, installed. No
other problems.)

On the Shortcut tab of the Properties dialog of the shortcut you use to
start Word, select "Maximized."
