Default handle many figures

I have a word document with many figures.
The problem is that the text has many blank areas and a bad structure
because the figures do not fit nicely with the text.

Are there any hints for avoiding this?

Afraid the lack of detailed description provides no real understanding of
what "blank areas", "bad structure" & "fit nicely" translates to, but if
you're referring to tabular lists ('columns' of figures) that don't align
neatly, you are probably not using tabs correctly, if at all. Take a look
here;
