I can get a page number to display in a word document in word 2000 in the
computer, but cannot get the page number to print on the page. This is a
document originally written in wordperfect, then translated into word and
the effort to add page numbers was done both in wp and word.

It's possible that your page number is set outside the margins. Does it
show up in Print Preview? Will the printer print other documents with the
page number in that same spot?
