How do I copy my resume to CD on wich I can modify or replace?
Everytime I work on the CD that contains my resume, the message "Read only"
appears and I can't do modifications on my resume. Is there a way to copy to a CD and be able to work on it later. Thank you |

DON'T work oiin it from the CD. Copy it to the hard drive, remove the
read-only attribute property, edit the document, save it to the hard drive, then copy it back to the disc using your disc mastering software. -- Graham Mayor - Word MVP My web site www.gmayor.com Word MVP web site http://word.mvps.org Johanne wrote: Everytime I work on the CD that contains my resume, the message "Read only" appears and I can't do modifications on my resume. Hi Graham
The "read-only attribute property" is not ticked and when I copy my resume from the document to a CD is still copied "read only". Matbe there is something I don't understand so can you write step by step what I should do to get rid of the "read only". Johanne "Graham Mayor" wrote: DON'T work oiin it from the CD. Files on CD are always read-only.
Files on the hard drive - using Windows Explorer, right click properties uncheck the read-only flag. If this doesn't make it work correctly, you probably have an orphan lock file - see http://www.gmayor.com/what_to_do_when_word_crashes.htm -- Graham Mayor - Word MVP My web site www.gmayor.com Word MVP web site http://word.mvps.org Johanne wrote: Hi Graham The "read-only attribute property" is not ticked and when I copy my resume from the document to a CD is still copied "read only". If you want to be able to use your documents, when working within Word, act
as if your removable media drives do not exist! (This applies to floppy drives, CDRW/CDR, flash drives or DVDR drives as well as any other kind of removable media drives.) Don't use Word to: Open a document on removable media Print a document on a removable media Edit a document on a removable media Save a document to a removable media (not even a copy) Word regularly trashes documents on removable media drives! Instead, work on the document using your hard drive. Copy it back and forth using Windows. I know that for some with shared computers (libraries, schools) this is a tough prescription. All I can recommend for that is to use a brand new formatted disk each time you save and don't do any editing. -- Charles Kenyon Word New User FAQ & Web Directory: http://addbalance.com/word Intermediate User's Guide to Microsoft Word (supplemented version of Microsoft's Legal Users' Guide) http://addbalance.com/usersguide See also the MVP FAQ: http://word.mvps.org/FAQs/ which is awesome!
